In order to combat a projected two degree centigrade rise in global temperature, the Climate Change Bill pledges the UK to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 80 per cent by 2050. The bill was receiving a third reading, which means both the last chance for both democratic scrutiny and consent."

Life Update

This is for Dan, Garit, and Davy. I know this is their favorite kind of blog:

Ashley and I went to get Addie's 6 month pictures from Angela McAllister, who hails from the swampy depths of Lehi, just as most of you who will read this do. She has a delightful apartment in the center of old residential Lehi -- right by Wine's Park -- I don't know how delightful that is during the height of summer festivities, but I'm sure on balance it's nice.

I don't know how many of you have had the pleasure of visiting her place, but, regarding home furnishing, she has one thing in particular I liked: her coffee table is an old trunk (like the picture; pictured trunk not actually Angela's). Now I don't know if it is actually an old trunk, but it looks old and that's what counts. I thought it was cleaver and the idea may not even be original. I certainly wouldn't know, home decor being way down on my list of priorities, my wife can attest that I would have a very spartan living space if I had my way.

She does amazing work with kids; though I like to think little Adelaide had a lot to do with it.
This picture perfectly captures the way Adelaide's cheeks border on becoming jowls.
She really like kisses too.These are some of my favorites. She loved this chair, which is very classy in and of itself (apparently the place to buy nice furniture is Tooele , UT). It was all we could do to get her to stop rocking back and forth holding the chair's arm and look at us.

A veterinary expert who examined the carcases said they had been killed by lightning hitting the wire fence bordering the field where the animals were stood. The incident occurred in Valdez Chico, near Montevideo, Uruguay.

IRONY

I thought I'd do a little blog about Irony. Maybe Alanis Morissette will read this blog and learn what is and is not ironic: like "a black fly in your Chardonnay" not ironic, or "rain on your wedding day"umm not ironic, but I'm sure most of you now know the only ironic thing about the song is that it is a song about irony without ironic lyrics.

The following video however is terribly and sweetly ironic. This may require some set up for some of our readers.

William Ayers: A Domestic terrorist who bombed the "New York City Police Headquarters in 1970, the United States Capitol building in 1971, and The Pentagon in 1972" you know as Wikipedia describes just activism of a radical nature, but lets not get sidetracked. These bombings were all inspired by the revolutionary Marxism that he subscribes to. Now on to the video; see if you can find the irony.



Hahahahaha. He called the police and even better wearing a communist star appeals to private property rights to get rid of the guy. Hahahahahaha

Now Campaign Financing Fraud

Chicago style politics have officially arrived (language warning -- cleaner option) .

So it seems that the Obama campaign has decided it is unnecessary to verify the addresses or even the names of those donating to his campaign online. Can you think of any reasons this could be a problem?

I can:

1. Suppose someone gets your credit card number and expiration date. Normally to do most anything online with that number you would need a valid billing address. Not at the Obama website.

2. Your campaign can violate contribution limits set by law. Since donations above $200 have to be reported individually to the FEC, a series of donation under $200 can be made under different names and addresses.

3. It allows foreign nationals from anywhere in the world to donate to the campaign. Their system doesn't care Where or Who you are as long as the number and date on the card are accurate.

This is so obviously facilitating fraud that it makes me ill. Where is the media in covering this. Can you imagine if McCain had done this. Seriously it would be over for him.

Wow: French archive releases fullest version of McCain POW interview to date

It's quite interesting and moving. A french journalist was able to interview some POWs and McCain was one of them.



"Being treated well" explained:

"French television reporter, Francois Chalais, recorded a five-minute interview with McCain in his hospital bed . . .

McCain later wrote that "Chihuahua [his North Vietnamese handler]," who was observing off-camera, was unhappy with his answers. He wanted McCain to express gratitude to his captors, but McCain refused, saying only that he was being "treated well." Chalais helped the prisoner by saying that he was happy with his answer. McCain later expressed regret that he had violated the code of conduct by talking about his ship and squadron number."

I've never failed to be impressed with John McCain the man. Not necessarily his politics. Yet, in terms of character the alternative to him is sad indeed.

Michael Yon is the best source for info on Afghanistan and Iraq. He was in Iraq during the worst of it and only left after there wasn't anymore news to report. It was too calm.

Most Belatedly the Washington Post Comes Around

The Washington Post is the second most influential paper in America only bested by the New York Times in its ability to influence the new cycle. After about a month they've finally recognized the governments role in creating our current economic crisis.

"No subsidy would prove more fateful than the massive federal commitment to residential real estate -- from the mortgage interest tax deduction to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to the Federal Reserve's low interest rates under Mr. Greenspan. Unregulated derivatives known as credit-default swaps did accentuate the boom in mortgage-based investments, by allowing investors to transfer risk rather than setting aside cash reserves. But government helped make mortgages a purportedly sure thing in the first place. Home prices seemed to stand on a solid floor built by Washington.

Government support for housing was well-intentioned: Homeownership is a worthy goal. But when government favors a particular economic activity, however validly, it must seek countervailing control to ensure the sustainable use of public resources. This is why banks must meet capital requirements in return for federal deposit insurance. Congress did not apply this sound principle to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac; they were allowed to engage in profitable but increasingly risky activities with an implicit government guarantee. The result was that taxpayers had to assume more than $5 trillion of their obligations. Contrast U.S. experience with that of Canada, where there is no mortgage interest deduction and the law requires insurance on any mortgage over 80 percent of a home's purchase price. Delinquency rates at Canada's seven largest banks are near historic lows"

So now that you've admitted it how about taking it to the congress persons who continually blame a lack of regulation for creating this mess. Read the whole thing.

More Voter Fraud -- Party Hack Official Pwns Election

200,000 problematic voters!!

Give me break how is there not an uprising in Ohio. It will disenfranchise voters to make sure all the voters are valid:

"Since Jan. 1, Ohio has 666,000 newly registered or updated voters -- all of whom fall under scrutiny by this latest court ruling. Brunner said an initial review found that at least 200,000 of them might have mismatched information. Once the office identifies all of the mismatched voters, Brunner will send the list to the county boards of election where the individuals have registered.

But state Republican Party Chairman Bob Bennett said Brunner's decision to not implement the verification system sooner without the court forcing her to do so has cost county boards of election valuable time reining in examples of fraud.

"Unfortunately, her delay in providing this matching system leaves little time for election officials to act on questionable registrations," Bennett said in a statement. "Secretary Brunner should immediately issue a new directive providing clear guidance on how the boards should handle the mismatched voter data."

Add to that news this:

"An entire houseful of young, non-Ohioan Democrat activists have used the Brownlee Avenue address to register themselves to vote in the Buckeye State and secure absentee ballots under extremely shady circumstances — all while mobilizing a large effort to register thousands of others for absentee and early voting."

Now I'm certain not all of these voters are fraudulent. But, in Ohio it is more than conceivable that a couple hundred voters will decide the election. This must be remedied, and the passivity of of government officials in many of these states is beyond shameful -- disgraceful.

British Health Care Employess Get Private Health Care

So what you provide sucks enough that you don't want it? Great! Why don't we be more like them?

An NHS trust has spent more than £12,000 on private treatment for hospital staff because its own waiting times are too long. The money was used to bring in physiotherapists to help workers recover from muscular-skeletal injuries at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds.

Bosses said it prevented them from leapfrogging NHS patients and enabled them to return to work more quickly.

However, the private treatment, which amounted to £12,116 for 271 appointments over the past year, was described by critics as “shocking”.

Mark Wallace of the TaxPayers’ Alliance said: “Their staff should have to wait like everybody else. Perhaps if they experienced it as their customers - that is the taxpayer - experienced it, they might be a little keener to improve their waiting times.”

Th only thing missing here is the recognition that it just isn't that they don't have to wait that causes long wait lists. It's the lack of competition. Why perform if there is no other option for those you serve?

Lack of Health Care Largely a Problem of OUR Making

You constantly hear that American health care is a joke and no one can afford coverage at all, and that the health insurance industry is raping and pillaging the common man. But:

Does this sound like a problem:

According to STATSIndiana, In 2007, Indianapolis/Marion County had an estimated population of 876,804. Of that number 232,607 were below 18 years of age, for a total of 644,197 people in Marion County/Indianapolis 18 or over and thus eligible to vote. (Indiana allows felons to vote as long as they are not incarcerated).

So we have 644,197 people eligible to be registered in Marion County/Indianapolis, and 677,401 people registered. Congratulations go to Indianapolis for having 105% of its residents registered!

It should. This sort of activity threatens the foundation of our self government.

It wouldn't have anything to do with this group would it: "ACORN Vegas Office Raided in Voter Fraud Investigation"?
