Absolutely heartbreaking.
Our Health care is so screwed up, it doesn't even surprise me that this happened.
But that's what you get when you allow insurance companies to bed with the Medical industry. Your bi-product is a corporate minded, greedy elitist, Iron Triangle(Doctors, insurance companies, and pharmaceutical companies); Who's priorities let the $$ come before the welfare of the clients.
Do you know the out of UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Canada, Australia, and japan: the US has the lowest life expectancy, the highest infant mortality rate, Highest in expenditure per capita >>>AND<<< government revenue spent on Health care.
In 2000, the W.H.O. did a review of 192 countries. The US ranked 72nd overall, 37th in performance, and 1st in response.
That's pretty weak if you ask me.

And, no I didn't read where this story happened. Although I feel that the story is really the tip of a, seriously messed up ice burg.
I'm not trying to hint to, or promote socialistic health care. Not by a long shot. Nor do I have a solution to our problem. Other than I firmly believe that the government should have NOTHING to do with the medical industry.
I suppose I just get sick of these imperialistic corporate conglomerates screwing with our well being. Especially when they sit and equivocate over petty technicalities.
However, we do nothing to stop them. I'll be the first to admit, blogging about this isn't going to solve a single problem. (Although it does make you feel better :) )
AND thats what really gets my undies in a bunch, is the apathy that people display. "oh that's too bad", or "oh what horrid event, how could they do such a thing?"
To me those people are actually saying, "I'm too damn lazy to do anything, but moan about it once and then move on with my life."
Whatever happened to the American "Man down" mentality? where stuff like this would be countered with the piercing cry of an outraged community, demographic, or even nation.
Instead we sit idle while HMO's run a muck. Medicare and other insurances and their pharmaceutical buddies get bolder and bolder. And our president is going to "reform" health care into a socialistic nightmare. That is, if he can do it before he literally stimulates our economy to depression.
I was seriously born a few centuries too late.
